Working Visa (Stamp 4) - second job in different sector?!

Post by walkindublin » Mon Nov 01, 2010 1:16 pm

Hi All,

Am a working visa holder (ICT professional - Stamp 4), working in an IT company at the moment.

And am wondering if its okay for me to have a second (part-time) job in Non-IT sector?

Thanks.

yes, only if you get a workpermit for that.
on practice, only revenue will be chasing you to get taxes.
your (second) employer may get into trouble employing you without a workpermit.

Actually, if you have Stamp 4, then you don't require permission for holding multiple jobs simultaneously. You could even employ yourself as a contractor etc..
The only thing you should ensure is that the tax implications are worth it. ie being taxed at the higher rate of 42%, etc..

not exactly, true .
ICT Stamp 4 require one to be an employee.
yes, you can get a second job, even as self employed/contractor, but only in IT.
