English Test - Tier 1 Dependent

Post by rubina20102010 » Thu Nov 04, 2010 9:51 am

I would really appreciate if ‘Somebody' answers my following query.

I got my initial HSMP in 2008 and in 2010 I have got my HSMP extension (Tier 1) valid up to March 2013.

Remarks on my passport

Indefinite leave to remains
No resource to public funds
No employment as a doctor in training

Now I am going to apply my husband visa as a Tier1-dependent. My Question is

If my husband will visa after 29th Nov 2010 does he should pass the spouse English test?

I understand that English requirement is only for settled person and British national.

On 26 July, we announced that English language tests will be compulsory for these migrants from 29 November 2010.
From that date, any migrant who wants to enter or remain in the UK as the partner of a British citizen or a person settled here will need to show that they can speak and understand English, by taking an English language test with one of our approved test providers. The term 'partner' means husband, wife, civil partner, unmarried partner, same-sex partner, fiance(e) or proposed civil partner.

Does my current status is settled person as I m on Tier1 (Extension) Visa and no more extension required?

Thanks

Hi,

i got reply from UK Home office saying that,

Please be advised that the English language requirement is not for dependant of Tier 1 General Migrant.
Therefore, you are not required to sit the English language test.
