How accurate is Royal Mail special delivery service?

Post by therock » Wed Nov 03, 2010 5:51 pm

I submitted my PSW application on 30th of October, since then the status of my special delivery on the royal mail website says "Your item with reference ZW******6GB has reached its PO Box and is awaiting collection/delivery. " I posted the application to the Home office's durham (PO Box) address. Any opinions? Thanks

The Special Delivery service is very accurate. The meesage that you are getting means that The package has been delivered to a PO BOX address however no one has collected this yet, thismaybe from the HO. Sometimes the packages are collected once or twice a week and sometimes it takes a few days to update the status online

@bobobo: Have you ever had your special delivery status changed to "Picked by HO" ? I have heard, Royal mail can not track once its posted to the PO Box.

unfortunately I have never posted anything to Durham so...No. Give it till early next week and then call the HO to confirm if they have received the package.

I meant, has the status of "awaiting delivery" ever changed for any one at any location?

Location: does it matter?
United Kingdom

It will, when the package is picked up / collected. You will also be able to view the receipt within 72 hours of the package being collected.

I don't know why it take so longer for the HO to pick the parcel, I have seen others in the "PSW processing time", most of them have their application picked the day after postage.

I have received the ack letter dated 03-November-2010, I request all of you to never trust Royal Mail Tracking or count the "PO Box reached" as the final status, because even today when I check the status it says "It has reached the PO Box and awaiting delivery"

Another funny thing is, Yesterday I called Royal Mail, if my postal orders are cashed, and they said "NO!, the postal orders are not cashed yet" this made me worry too much because I was thinking either I sent the application to the wrong address or my application is lost.

Call any of the following numbers and give them your postal order voucher number and they will tell you if the postal orders are chased, if they are cashed, then just sit back and relax :),

Thanks man thanks alot for the prompt replies and help ... I will confirm with the post office people ... But its silly isnt it ... I replied before you and i havent received an acknowledgement letter. And you have ... they are not consistent are they?

Also i was worried ... which address did you post it to?? The address on the first page of the form is different to the one on the website. I post it to this one:

UKBA,
TIER-1,
PO BOX NO 496
DURHAM
DH99 1WQ

But the address on the ukba website is :

You should post your form to:

UK Border Agency
Tier 1
PO Box 496
Millburngate House
Durham
DH99 1WQ

I am confused and just wondering what address did you send it to ??? I sent it to the first one as it is the one on the form.

You sent it to the correct address, its not important to write the city/town names since you already wrote postcode and the PO Box number. Just wait till tomorrow, and call those numbers, I am pretty sure your postal orders should be cashed by now. Good Luck.

And most of the users in this forum never received ack letters and got their visas, in fact some of them received the ack letters after receiving visas ;)

It might have been delivered outside HO working hours and therefore returned to the PO BOX. In this case they would leave a card to the HO to pick up the package, but im not sure if they do pick up packages from the post office and maybe thats why its just laying down there waiting for pick up all this time.. you better call tomorrow and check man!

hmmmm but when i checked on royal mail website ... it says delivered on 27th oct 2010 and it has electronic proof of delivery. when i see the proof of delivery it shows me an image that has a stamp that reads "EPOD CHECKED".

Do you think it still might not have been delivered

Ok guys ive got news !!! .. i called the postal order department this morning ... and they can confirm that the postal orders i sent were encashed on 1st November 2010.

I posted my application through special delivery on 26th Oct ... they received it on 27th Oct and used the postal orders on 1st Novemer. But i have not received any acknowledgement letter.

hi guys !!! hope the members are doing good ... im a bit worried and i would appreciate some replies and help. I HAVE NOT RECEIVED ANY CORRESPONDANCE or RESPONSE from home office about my application yet :-| ... :o(

i applied for PSW on 26th Oct 2010, they received it on 27th Oct 2010 and according to the post office the postal orders were cashed on 1st Nov 2010. I have not received any acknowledgement letter or anything.

One of you readers applied after me .... have you received anything yet??? Also i tried calling the homeoffice people ... not on the 0870 number but a replacement landline number taken from this website 'saynoto0870.com' (obviously to save money). But no one picked up

Please help and suggest what should i do ... or do you guys have an alternative number for home office which is cheap to call. LOL . help will be appreciated to the max.

Thank you in advance
