Register Marriage.

Post by nm » Mon Nov 08, 2010 9:42 am

Hi,

This question may be asked earlier in the forum, however, am not sure about.Friend of mine in UK under Tier1 General and he'll get married in another few months of time. He's planning to do 'Register-Marriage' and apply for visa based on that. Later, he's planning for Formal marriage
ceremony to save time and fly back to UK after a couple of days.

Its much appreciated if seniors could advice on this.

Where's the question? And what is "register-marriage"?

Hi,

Aplologies for not posted in detailed way. He's planning to register his marriage in the Govt. Registrar office two weeks before the normal hindu marriage ceremony. Then use that Marriage resigration certificate to apply for the spouse visa.so his wife visa will be in hands by the time of the completion of marriage and he planning to travel immediately after marriage.

It is the marriage certificate that is considered valid evidence of a marriage. How a marriage is solemnized is irrelevant.

This said, the onus is on the applicant to prove it is not a "marriage of convenience".

If he can do registered marriage then he can apply for Dependent visa based on marriage certificate.
Visa is issued based in MC.
He can do traditinal marriage as many times he want.

Ah, I see the confusion.

it's not registering a marriage, and not a registration certificate, exactly. It's a marriage ceremony, in front of a Registrar, usually (but not always) at a Registry Office.

But it's not registering a marriage, it's creating one, in legal terms.
I am not, and cannot, offer legal advice to particular people. I can only discuss general areas of immigration law.

People should always consider obtaining professional advice about their own particular circumstances.
