Doubts on dependant Visa

Post by sasti_a » Mon Nov 15, 2010 12:16 pm

Hi all,
I got my Tier 1 general Visa valid from 5th Jan 2011. I thank and appreciate your guidance. Now, I have a few doubts on applying dependant Visa for my wife and kid.

1. Can I apply dependant Visa for my wife and kid before travelling??
2. There is a spelling mismatch in my mother's name between my Passport and Marriage Certificate. I submitted this marriage certificate with my application and it went through. Will it create any problem now????
3. Can I use the Maintenance Funds I showed in my Visa application to get Visa for my dependants in addition to my wife's account?? Will that be checked??

Thanks in advance,
Sasti

1. Yes.
2. No.
3. No one can tell you if checks will be carried out or not. But if checks are carried out and your account has a balance that is sufficient only for you (e.g. - GBP 2800 only) the application may be refused.

Sushd,

In context to # 3, do we still need to maintain the required maintenance fund?

In Sasti's case he has got 2 dependants. So he will need GBP 3200(1600 X 2). What about his own GBP 2800 requirement?

Regards,
John

Sasti would require to show

1. 2800 GBP for self
2. 1600 GBP for wife
3. 1600 GBP for kid

Total of 6000 GBP in any of the account in his name or jointly held with wife (best) or other.
