PSW Applications before April 2011.

Post by t0mal » Tue Nov 23, 2010 9:44 pm

Hello Everyone,

I was just wondering what will happen to in-country Tier 1 (PSW) applications before April 2011? I am on a Tier-4 visa (on appeal) and have graduated recently, I am just wondering how the new rules published by home office today would apply to me and others like me.

Any light on the matter would be highly appreciated.

Thank you for reading.

Replies please!!!

P.s. For those of you (I doubt any) who do not know what I am talking about please go to link

We are on the same boat.
This government is making drastic changes to everything they are able to, I doubt their actions will do the country any good.

No change.

But April 2011 onwards:
As well as limiting the number of skilled non-European workers that businesses can bring into the country, the Home Office is tightening the intra-company transfer route (which will sit outside the annual limit) and restricting Tier 1 of the points-based system - the 'highly skilled' tier - to all but entrepreneurs, investors and people of exceptional talent.
Mrs May's statement(s) in the House of Commons

No mention of Tier 1 (PSW) category in the new details published today regarding limits on non-EU workers from April 2011:
Annual limit for Tier 1 and Tier 2 visa applications

I think she is seeking consultation to close PSW all together. Just out of interest, have any new rules ever been implemented before April 0X of any given year. I am asking this because my girlfriend graduates in December and has to wait till Feb/march for results.

Many thanks

HSMP qualifying criteria changed in November 2006.
HSMP closed in Feb 2008 and June 2008 (phased closure).
WP closed in November 2008.
Interim limit imposed in July 2010.

etc. etc.

Hmm, interesting, many thanks for the reply.

But with this new government I guess only option is to wait and see what they do.
Will not be shocked if they closed down PSW in or before Feb 2011.
