English language for Tier 1 spouses

Its good to be back on this forum after a while. Its also good to see that the quality of advice here hasn't changed and people are receiving practical recommendations on very serious issues.

I likewise want to make a clarification on the english language requirements for migrant spouses. Will this apply to Tier 1 General spouses as well?

My wife will be switching from her current student visa to Tier 1 dependent visa at end of January 2011 from outside the UK. Does she need to sit for the ILETS before her application? What score is required?
