Presentation of performance data
The processing times are calculated from the day the visa application centre received your biometric data, visa application form and supporting documents. It ends when the decision on your visa application was made by the UK Border Agency.
Visa processing times are shown in timescales from 2 - 120 days. The days are expressed in working days. Working days do not include:
- weekends, local public holidays and any other non-working days;
- where appointments are required, the time taken to obtain an appointment.
What it means is even if someone is 'in the queue' before someons else,new_to_it_all wrote:Thanks Shushdmehta and Sajid for your reply and information.
I am not worried regarding my application being approved or rejected. However it is disappointing that at least one set of people in the world are disadvantaged in this process.
So far no one has called regarding my application to enquire about anything, therefore I cannot even know that there is a debate about the documents.
The purpose of my post was to enquire whether this sort of treatment was common for all Pakistani applicants or just in my case.
One more thing, Sajid you say you applied on October 15th. According to the processing times for October 2010 in Pakistan, 100% of the applications for PBS Tier 1 were decided within 30 days at all the centres except Karachi. Unless your application was submitted in Karachi, your decision should have been made.
Good luck for a positive decision
VFS Global is not UKBA, but an external commercial (visa services) provider.sajid08 wrote:It's not Gerry's website if you look closely, it's VFSGlobal so it should be the UK Border agency guys
I understand that VFS is a private, external entity which deals with not only UKBA but other countries like Australia too. Does this mean that they receive communication directly from UKBA regarding passport status before they update the tracking service?sushdmehta wrote:VFS Global is not UKBA, but an external commercial (visa services) provider.sajid08 wrote:It's not Gerry's website if you look closely, it's VFSGlobal so it should be the UK Border agency guys
Gerry's depends on the VFS Global's application tracking service, the same service that VFS operates for all their UK visa application centres in different countries.
regards
quite self explanatory me thinksI believe this means that the UK Border Agency was not only failing to be open and transparent
about their approach towards customers, but also may be discriminating unlawfully in favour of Gulf
Cooperation Council customers and against Pakistanis. I believe the UK Border Agency must take
immediate action to ensure it is acting in compliance with its duties under the Race Relations Act 1976,
and that, where it considers that different criteria are necessary, it ensures that it has the appropriate
authorisation. This is a matter to which I shall be paying particular attention in future inspections.
Overall, I found that many of the key stakeholders I spoke to had a worrying lack of confidence in
the work of the visa section – particularly in Pakistan visa operations. I hope this report’s findings and
recommendations will prompt the UK Border Agency to act decisively to restore public confidence in
its services and to ensure equitable treatment for all visa customers.
