Council tax discount for single person occupancy - query

Post by maximux79 » Tue Feb 16, 2010 2:27 pm

Hi, I'm on TIER 1 - GENERAL visa and it mentions 'no recourse to punlic funds'. I live alone in a private rented flat. Can I claim council tax discount for single person occupancy? My coucil website, says that council tax is calculated based on 2 person occupancy, so if a single person lives there, we can claim a discount. Does claiming this discount breaks the 'no recourse to public funds' ?

Thanks

Getting the 25% single occupant discount does not amount to claiming Public Funds. So no problem at all.
