Would like to bring my Mother-In-Law to UK..

Post by Aani » Fri Dec 10, 2010 12:41 pm

Hi Experts,

I would like your kind advice with my present situation. Myself and my husband are in UK(We both have our own Tier 1 General VISA, We are not dependent to each other). I will deliver a baby in the month of July (2011) and I would like to bring my Mother-in-law during the delivery time to help me.

1. Is it possible for her stay with us for 8 to 12 months time? (This is because, We are planning to send our baby to India after 12 months with her and I will follow them in short time) I dont think Visiting VISA will help us as I believe it will be given for few months.

2. I have the below proof to submit to UKBA for her VISA. Could anybody guide me if this is sufficient or any extra documents to submit. I believe I must send these documents to India and she must apply from VFS India. Is that correct?

a) Myself and my husband's last 3 months payslip
b) Proof of enough funds to support her stay. Is it ok if we submit mine and my husband's statements. Or just his statement has to be submitted (as he being her son)?
c) 2 bed room flat Rental agreement to show UKBA that we have enough space to stay.
d) Sponsorship/Invitation letter from us for her visit. Anyone can share me the format of this?
e) We can also send her the to and fro flight tickets in advacne. (Return ticket in 11 months/open return ticket on her name) just to make the case stronger.
f) For sure, she will not stay with us for more than 8 -12 months as my Father-in-law is not well and she must help him in his day to day activities. May be a proof of that? This clears UKBA that she will return to india.

Am I missing anything else. Please help.

Thanks & Regards,
Aani

Family visit visa is what your mother-in-law can apply for. One a visit visa, one may stay in the UK for a maximum of 6 months in a year.

VFS India
What supporting documents should I include with my application?
Similar to visitors to the USA, the applicant should show strong ties to outside the UK (i.e. - home country).
