Redundancy payments as proof of earnings?

Post by need_a_tier1 » Mon Dec 13, 2010 10:56 am

Can one include the redundancy payments (Tax/NI free) in the proof of earnings (gross) for a Tier-1 extension application?

The final payslip shows the redundancy payments (Tax/NI free) and last months salary(Tax-ed, NI-ed) in one single sheet and the amount credited in the bank account is the total of redundancy payments and last month salary.

So, to match the earnings(net) in between payslip and bank statement - there seems to be no way out other than to include the redundancy payments in the total earnings.

No, you cannot.

Why do you want to deduct it from your net earnings. You simply have to deduct it from gross earnings. So if your gross was £100 and your redundancy inincluded in there was £10 and your net pay was £60, then the gross you will be claiming is £90 (£100 - £10). To prove this you show the payslip showing the £90 + £10 and the corresponding net amount (£60).

You don't have to deduct it from net as it makes no difference to your points.

Thanks.

I was just worried about the fact that the case worker matches the amount credited in the Bank with the Net earnings on the payslip. In this case the amount credited in the bank account is the total of redundancy payments and last month's salary (one single account credit).

Also deducting the redundancy payment from either the Net or Gross salary/earnings would make no difference - as I will arrive at the same Net salary figure at the end.
