Applying for ACCA..when?

Post by mahdyhasan » Mon Dec 13, 2010 10:23 pm

one of my friend is about to finish his course by January 2011 and to finish his visa by March 2011... He wants to apply for ACCA after finishing his course..

he got two options fro ACCA:

1. apply for jan/feb session
2. apply for june session

If he applies for June session, will HO give him visa from March (as his visa is gonna expired in march)? Or he will get visa from June (so he needs to go back his home country)..

or he cannot apply at all?? does he need to go back to home country and apply from there??

Most probably, after Jan'11 changes in immigration laws, there will be no more visa extensions allows for student.

So dont need to worry about extensions now!

Only student with visa expiry date in Jan'11 should worry about date and time.

If his existing course is going to end in Jan'11 and he got visa till March'11. He can only apply for Feb'11 session. Get enrolled and start your ACCA studies in Feb and send visa extension on 28th of Feb. Hopefully he will get extension if rules will be the same at the time of application.

If he apply for June'11 session and send extension application, HO will send him home rather then giving him visa cause there is 5 months gap between the courses which should not be more then one month!

Feb'11 is the ideal and only option if you want to make in-country application. As I heared that new rules will take place from 1st of March or 1st of Apr, so make a deadline of 28th of Feb.

As his visa expires in March, and his new course starts in June, he will need to leave the UK and apply for entry clearance again. The reason being, you cannot apply for an extension if the new course start date is more than a month after the current visa's expiry date.

If you wish to avoid going out of the UK, you may wish to apply for the Jan/Feb option.
