Marriage Broken

Post by fsharich » Fri Nov 19, 2010 1:09 pm

Hello
I got my ILR on 12/11/09 because was married to a British Citizen. Now, we are no longer married, and not divorce yet. Just separated.

I am qualified to apply based on residence?

Unless you are divorced, you remain married.

Will your spouse be ready to provide his/her passport and birth certificate? If so, you may apply for naturalisation as spouse of British citizen. If not, you'll have to wait to meet the standard requirements.

They don't always send an acknowledgement letter. My husband didn't receive one before his acceptance letter which was 4 weeks after application.
Likely to be slow with the Xmas/New year holidays.

You'll need to make sure that you're in the UK to arrange your Citizenship ceremony. You have 90 days in which to attend one following the receipt of the letter confirming your successful application.
