do we have to book a return flight

Post by rebekah_cardiff » Thu Dec 23, 2010 12:42 pm

Hi, our niece and nephew have been granted a visitor visa for 12 months, do we have to book a return flight when booking for them to come here? would they be sent back if they didnt have a return flight even though its a year away.
We are booking the flights today so would appreciate any advice.

Thanks in advance

Any visitor visa only allows you to stay for 6 months at a time. It might be a 12 month visa - but it only allows presence in the UK for 6 months in 12.

http://www.ukvisas.gov.uk/en/aboutus/fe ... remiumvisa
allows unlimited entries to the UK, for up to six months at any one time, for the validity of the visa

A visitor should not, for example, normally spend more that 6 out of any 12 months in the UK
A return flight is not essential - but they need to have clear plans to return - so it is advisable.
