PSW Letter From University Details - Help Please

Post by lavezziisgod » Mon Dec 27, 2010 7:29 am

Hi,

I am now in India and this is what my PSW letter from Uni says:

1. Name
2. Student Number
3. Date of Birth
4. Start date and end date of course
5. Date of results
6. One line saying that XXX has completed the Master's program and will be awarded his Master's degree, by the awarding body which is YYY University.

I have the transcripts, of course.

So should I still apply with this PSW letter? The Uni has not set the exact date of the award and has not yet dispatched the original certificates, but it has said that I have completed the program.

Please help and give your suggestions.

Thanks in advance.

Hey Thanks.

I do have the transcripts too, of course, in addition to the PSW visa.

Cheers!

hang on a second....

you have not been awarded degree yet, hence, you are unable to apply for psw!

hav a look here

under heading "I haven't got my results yet. Can I apply to stay under Tier 1 (Post-Study Work)?"

Hey Arsenal...

Thanks. But this is the letter that the Uni is giving to each and everyone...;-(

But the fact that the Uni letter says that I have completed my MA and will be officially awarded the degree on so-and-so date enough..? I have my marksheets and results and everything, of course...

God, I am so confused over this and am going mental!

i know its totally bonkers requirement of psw. but thats what the guidance says.... that uni letter is still required but the main degree certificate is apparently required too by ukba.

Para 62(ii) of the policy guidance, and the sentence preceding it.

Unfortunately, arsenal is right, this was exactly the reason why i was refused my visa and had to appeal!

Because the University did not specify date of award of my certificate

On one hand, this is crazy, because the award hasn't yet hapenned - how can they put down the date?
On the other hand, there's also the fact that this has obviously hapenned before, they have dedicated people, within the University, who deal with Internation Students and issues we/they might face when applying for visas etc. And yet, they continue issuing 'wrong'/'incomplete' documents?

This is probably now irrelevant to you, but it grabbed my attention as it's pretty close to home!

Hope it all went well!
