Passport - Application

Post by fsharich » Fri Dec 31, 2010 12:08 pm

Hello All
I am going to ask for a sincere help.

Does anyone knows how they will check our previous address for the passport?

It has to match against the passport application or the home office application?

I am asking because I had to put a diferent address than that I was actually living in. Now if they check against home office application will be one thing, if they check in the bank, for example, it will be something else.

I am not a bad person, it had to be done for personal reasons.

Can someone help me responding how they check previous address?

Thank VERY MUCH.

My understanding is that they use credit reference agencies such as Experian as well as the Electoral register. If there is insufficient information available on you, they may request further information is provided via your GP, Dentist , Bank etc.
They may query the inaccuracy of your address as they also have access to the UKBA database in order to confirm the authenticity of your naturalisation certificate.

So you live at different address than your bank statements are delivered for?
Can't you change the address with your bank to match the address where you actually live?
Then, do you need your passport urgently?
If no, wait a month or two and all CRAs (Credit Reference Agencies) will have your current address updated.
And apply then.

There is only one address on application form as far as I am aware (and I am looking at application form right now) and you need to put in the address where you actually live for the very simple reason that passport will be delivered to that address.
So how can you put in different address? You won't be able to get hold of your passport as you need to sign delivery and identify yourself to the courier - it is not delivered by Royal Mail.

My current address is fine. This is where I am actually living.
My problem is regarding past address.

What about if I am not at home anyway?

you don't put in any old addresses on the form, so I can't really see what your problem is
if during interview they will ask you about previous addresses (but through reading the forum, they rather won't) then you will have all opportunity to explain everything face-to-face
getting passport (or not) does not affect your status as a British Citizen

if you are not at home then you will have to arrange redelivery
