Previous earning dates - Tier-1 Extension

Hi,

I am showing Previous earning from Jan-2010 to Dec-2010 from 2 employers.

Employer 1: 01/01/2010 to 20/07/2010
Employer 2: 23/07/2010 to 31/12/2010

Final Settlement from Employer 1 is made on 30th Aug 2010.

while filling form do I need to write earning period for Employer 1 as

a) 01/01/2010 to 20/07/2010

OR

b) a) 01/01/2010 to 30/08/2010

if 'b' is correct, does it overlap with Employer 2?

Please help on this
