Why April?

All the new immigration rules brought in by the new government, like changes to Tier1 & 2, the permanent cap and potential changes to Tier 4 will all come in to force in April 2011.

Just wondering why April? Why not March or January?

And does this mean after these changes this April, any future changes won't come into force until April 2012?

As it has been observed in the past, changes are implemented in other months too ..

e.g. -
Under Labour:
Schemes that closed on 29 November 2008
Schemes that closed on 26 November 2008

Under present governement:
New English language requirement for partners from 29 November 2010
Tier 1 (General) closed for overseas applicants 23 December 2010
Immigration limit for Tier 1 (General) of the points-based system 19-July 2010
