Reg: Previous UK Experience for applying Tier 1 visa

Post by glrrajesh » Mon Jan 24, 2011 6:19 am

Hi all,

I had been working in the UK under Tier2 (WP) from Sep 2007 till June 2010. I came back to India in July 2010. I am planning to apply for Tier 1 from UK in the month of March 2011.

Now my question is, For Previous UK work experience, should the Proof of Docs (payslips) be in the last 1 yr period only or can it be before that as well. I can submit UK payslips from JUL 2009 to JUN2010. Is that valid??

I have also got the P60 for the period 2009 to 2010.

Please suggest & help me what can be done to acquire Previous UK exp points. Thanks

You can only claim UK experience if £16 000 of your previous earnings you are claiming were earned in the UK. The UK experience "section" doesn't dictate any time limits, however, that is determined by the points you are claiming for previous earnings (e.g. it has to be in the last 15 months and you can only use a 12 month period during the last 15 months).

Basically what the means is that if applying in March 2011, you can only claim earnings from January 2010 onwards. If your earnings in the UK for a 12 month period starting from January 2010 exceeds £16 000 then you can claim points if you are claiming earnings for the same period.
Do not send me PM's with specific questions - post question in the open forum so others can also benefit from the answers.

It is no more £16000 to claim UK experience. The new threshold is £25k if you want to claim UK experience based on your income.
