To all those who requested for urgent treatment

Post by noddy214 » Thu Jun 24, 2004 6:32 am

Friends - This message is for all those who requested the HO to give an urgent treatment to their application due to job offer on hand.

I wish to know how did you all get a job offer without having the work permit. Also if you could share with the board the industry you belong to. I am sure that would shed some light on industries that are relatively open to telephonic interviews and willing to give jobs.

My experience has been that when I approach the company directly, they don't consider my application as technically I don't have the required visa and when I approached the recruitment consultants, they do not wish to handle my papers till I don't have the required visa.

Hope to see lots of replies and wise words from the moderators.

Thanks,
Noddy.

Hi noddy214,
You can surely get interview offers by telling that You have applied for hsmp & it will be thorugh in short t ime. This way I got 3 interview offers with even salary discussed from 35 to 40 k. I will show these e-mails while applying my case in 2 month time. ( just waiting for my salary component to be better)
In two cases the hiring manager/person for the company gave me the phone numbers & address and invites me to contact him whenever I land in UK. I guess this should be sufficent. Another company try to test me thorugh online test. That way also I guess is also okay.

hopes this will help you. By the way I am embedded IT field.

regards.

Hi

If you are in the accounting profession, the auditing firms are always looking for people and may be prepared to do a telephone interview.

You will definitely not be able to find work through an agent, as they are not allowed to put any names forward without a valid work permit in place.

You could try looking on the internet. However, having worked in London previously, I believe if you are willing to stick it out and get your HSMP first, you will have a much better pick of jobs when you are in the UK.

I think if you are an out of country applicant you will have to settle for a slightly worse job if you want to take the urgent application route. I am sure most employers would rather hire someone they are able to meet first. I would!

Its good to know that you have got those interview calls and acknowledgements from UK employers. I also belong to IT field, could you please let me know what are the sources you use to search IT jobs or any company URLs etc.

hi mansoor,
I did the following steps when start the searching for jobs.
1> open the site www.google.com
2> insert the words " uk embedded jobs" & press enter
2> I got lot of web site address matching these words
4?> Visit top main listed sites . Now wherever they want you to Register Get register yourself & apply for the each listed matching jobs
So nothing special on particular web sites. People from uk must be knowing more better as which sites are best for job searching.

Best of luck.
