Overseas earnings

Post by next step » Mon Feb 14, 2011 3:46 pm

Hi

I want to claim for earnings that I made overseas, but while I was in the UK. I have the overseas payslips and bank account statements but the payments were made into a joint accoint between myself and my Dad. I presume this will not be a problem but I just want to make sure I have myself covered because I dont know what the HO has an issue with joint account in this sense. Would I need to provide any further evidence?

Its not a spousal account, its btwn me and my Dad. R u saying they will have an issue? If so, what other evidence will they accept as clarification?

Thanx for ur response Sushil, but i'm not very clear on what u r saying. R u saying that the joint account will be an issue because its not a spousal account? The work I did was for my Dad's company, but I dont see why the HO will see that as relevant, can u explain that for me plz? And if thats the case, what additional documents will they accept as evidence?

Other members can tell better but I can tell you my case

I applied for HSMP from abroad in 2007 and my salary, at that time, was being transferred in joint bank account with my mother. They accepted this evidence as I got a Tier 1

Sorry to be a pain, but did u provide anything additional like a letter from your accountant or letter of employment? Were ur payslips and bank statements the only evidence u provided?

Thanx so much for your response!

Joint account with your dad and you have mentioned that you worked for your dad's company... don't you think caseworker should doubt about your employment ? Just a guess !!

That's exactly why i'm trying to find out what documents I need to provide in the event that the case worker becomes concerned. I did some overseas consulting for his firm and it was easier for him to recieve my pay into our joint account while I was away. But I know the HO may get a bit concerned, so I'm trying to provide whatever documents they may need. I just dont know what!

The financial documents you have should be fine but be prepared to have proof of the actual work you have done. So email copies, proposals, analysis etc because it is quite likely your situation will be thoroughly checked and your dad's company audited.

thats exactly what I was thinking, also what type of visa the OP got presently would be a factor.
