Workpermit --> Tier 1 (General) --> ILR Query

Post by pegakrishna » Tue Mar 01, 2011 12:48 pm

I came to UK on Work Permit Aug 2008 and I switched to Tier 1 General on Jun 2010 and they granted me for 2 years.

Following Questions I have on top of my head...

1. When I apply Tier 1 Extension on Jun 2012, Will the same points system is used when I initially grant Tier 1 General visa ?

2. If all goes well, by Aug 2013 I have completed my stay in UK for 5 years. Will my workpermit stay (Aug 2008 - May 2010) is considered for ILR ?? What are my chances ??

I really look forward your valuable responses Thank you in advance

Your chances (for extension and settlement) will depend on the rules effective on the dates of either application and that apply to you. And no one can tell you today what these rules will be in 2013!

Under current rules, stay in any qualifying immigration category can be included in the "5 years" residential period when applying for settlement as an economic migrant.

As for extension, wait for the revised policy guidance to be published to ascertain for yourself how the points will be awarded for extensions.

Thank you for your quick reply.

When can I expect "revised policy guidance" for Tier 1 extensions ??

If you hear about revised policy guidance and please do share in this thread.
