Post by knigh7 » Mon Feb 28, 2011 11:55 am

Hi,

I am on a Tier 1 Visa, but have been living in my uncles house and did not pay council tax. would it be a problem now if i apply for ILR?

and would three months worth of council tax is enough?

Thanks,

I am not sure if there are any specific requirements around council tax. My rent includes council tax so I would have thought you don't have to separately give any evidence?

Got my ILR from Croydon in April 2010, the woman at the counter didnt bother with my accomodation let alone Council tax info.

The most important piece of info taken from me was

Complete Application form
Passport + Picture
Company letter confirming your continuous employment and current salary.
3 month Bank statements
3 months salary slips ( stamped and signed from Company if they are online slips)
All 5 yrs P-60s. ( 4 Yrs if you are dure to apply before you get the 5th one).
If you have any savings good to show them aswell.
Thats all I was asked off. Please note I applied in person.

I am worrying the same thing!
I did check the application form. ONly people applying under "long stay" need council tax bill, I think.

However, so many people provide council tax bill for ILR purposes. Really make me nervous!

It's not essential. People often include it as it's a good proof of address...but there are alternatives.

Yeah! Council Tax is not a important doc. But if you have you can provide it.

Just to add to the hsmp_victory list - LIUK Test too... I think you have provided that too.

If you are applying with your spouse then you must support your case with cohab docs!

Hope this helps :)
