I'm starting to get depressed now... I sent my application on the 7th February and nothing yet...
I know it's not a long time, but a lot of people receive their answer before that. Having waited more than half an year for EEA2 and then again for EEA4 I should get used to it, but I only get anxious - all the time checking Royal Mail to see if they posted the documents back to me!

Should not get disappointed mate. I submitted mine on 31st Jan, and haven't heard anything yet...

I'm happy receving the registration certificates today.

Firstly, my heartfelt thanks to everyone who has contributed in here, which I believe has made all the difference to me.

I have been following this thread with interest for sometime now, which, if put together, has covered almost all the possible scenarios for this application.

I should say, I have never been so confident sending in the application like this time to Home Office anytime before.

For a change, my experience with IND is very positive.

I guess with my personal experience with Home Office, it may be possible that many applicants who had sailed smoothly may not be sharing their experience in here.

Anyway, I throughly got educated following through the experience of others in this forum.

I decided to take a chance to go for Postal application and it all worked well for me in the end.

Type - Postal
Date of submission - 09/02/11
Date reached HO- 10/02/11 (guess)
(Did not include any pre-paid special delivery envelopes + but made a detail covering letter and send all stated documents in original)
Date of credit card was debited - 15/02/11
Date of receipt of acknowledgement- 18/02/11 - dated 15/02/11

Date in registration certificates (decision made) - 22/02/11
Date in decision acknowledgment letter - 24/02/11
Date documents received - 25/02/2011 (NEXT DAY for a second class post)
Date registration certificates received - 25/02/11 (Again NEXT DAY for a second class post)

Once again, my heartfelt thanks for everyone in here!!!

I can now turn my attention to follow timelines for passports in here, as I have posted mine today in Fast Track service :)

I hope my experience would be useful to some who would like to take chances.

Good Luck to others who are waiting for theirs....

Hi everyone,

Just want to advice to those who have received or on the way of receiving their British neutralisation certificate that please DO NOT LAMINATE IT to make it secure.

I did mine and then sent for passport application and got refused. Then contacted home office and paid £80 for another official copy of my British neutralisation certificate. Anyways everything sorted at the end- took 3 weeks though and finally got my passport today :D

Thank you very much for every one in this Board.

I am very pleased by the outcome and the speed! I will be calling the county council on Monday to check if we could be booked into a ceremony.

I have got some annual leave at the end of March. If I am able to get British Passport by then I can go to Europe with out being bothered about VISA!! That would be an excellent outcome

Congratulations nax_72!
I applied on the 07/02 and card deducted on the 12/02 and I called today and no sign of application being dealt with. I was told the same: “preliminary checks being doneâ€

I was thinking about that. Apply for your passport first.
Probably the delay/"future refusal" is because I applied just after my partner got his citizenship, without waiting for the british passport.

But you must have provided your partners British citizenship certificate number? Did they ask for your partners passport number as well? Passport is by choice- you might be citizen and not have passport until you need?.

Hi Saurya,
Yes, I provided his citizenship certificate, and also the civil partnership certificate. Hopefully it all goes well. But when calling them it's so frustrating - having waited almost half an year for the EEA4 decision, I can only think that I am the unlucky one! We will see how things go and I will keep putting updates in here.

As you mentioned I will get my passport before applying BC for my wife. I travel a lot too. So definitely BP will be helpful for me. Also if it takes longer than April 9th then my wife will be eligible on her own to apply for the BC. Whichever comes first she will apply on that criteria.

Don't worry all will be OK for you. It is all about few more days of patience. I know it is a testing and frustrating time. But we should think that we waited so long and also lucky enough to get a chance to be eligible to apply for BC.

I received letter from Homeoffice on 25/02 to say my application has been successful but to wait for another letter before calling Council to make an appt for ceremony. Does any one know how many does it take for this second letter? I called council yesterday and they said that they have not received any intimation from Home office. Thanks.

Doodlebug,

We are in the same boat! Mine also went to the slow queue for some reason!

By the way, I also live in the Hammersmith and Fulham area. Is it the case that our cases went to sort of a slow queue? We will never know! But interesting the fact that you are also from this area! My application was postal though, and I didn't use NCS.
Keep us updated on your status! Thanks!

Statistics from Dec 1 for those people who listed times here

Average time from Date submitted to approval letter received:
51 respondents, range 16 to 90 days
Average: 33.44 days standard deviation of 14.59 days so the average range is 19 to 48 days

Time from HO submission to passport received:
11 respondents, range 31 to 94 days
Average: 61.54 days standard deviation of 20.46 days so the average range is 41 to 82 days

I did this because
A) I have time to waste with a day off
B) I've waited 34 days today and anecdotally it seemed a long time in comparison to others...hope this puts some of your minds to ease
