Well from the 21 Feb...you should have received it already. Call them with your reference number and ask why is the service not 10 days.

But for sure, by friday, you should have it...

nanette/adura,

The processing is still within the 10 working days time frame. February is a 28 days month remember?

Hi aswadref

What extra documentations did you submit with your passport application forms.
I ve just checked my passport status now and it says passport not processed that a letter has been sent out in the post indicating why..

Am suprised though but will wait for the letter..

A little delay but not denial

Hi All,
apologies I haven't kept the forum updated for while.
After a long wait I finally got my passport earlier this week.
Dept of Foreign affairs, put my application on hold because they no longer accept long form of BC or an affidavit. They now require all first time applicants who do not have their original BC, to submit their original passport along with the other required documents.

That's probably the reason why applications are processed slowly.

What really pissed me off though is that, they don't mention this on their website and they only sent me a letter on the 10th day after applying and then claimed in their letter that due to incomplete documentation the period of 10 days application processing no longer applies. And despite listing my mobile no. and email address in the application form, the DFA chose to communicate via snail mail further slowing things down.

Also, when I once called them earlier in the week, I got a real smart-mule on the phone. He claimed my application was rejected, and when I reminded him that, this wasn't mentioned in then letter I got from DFa and that it was only delayed and my application no. was still the same he started arguing with me......

Anyway, that's all history now......i now have a spanking new PP....;)

Regards,
Krb.

Hi All

As Krb pointed out it seems to be a new rule with passport office (only applied to new Irish though)
They sent my application back last week as well asking for Birth Cert to be attested by my home country's embassy. Also my original passport from home country. Reason for birth cert to be attertested was that its laminated  and when I asked what about DoJ's laminated CoN ? They didn't have any answer.

Anyways I resubmitted everything last week and was told to collect passport personally in a week or so.

BTW I didn't had to pay passport fee again.

Will keep you all posted

Hi Krb

May I ask how long it took them to process application 2nd time ?
Did you submit everything in person or sent by Free post application provided addressed to their Ballbriggan office ?

Thanks for the info.
I guess that was the reason my passport application was not processed.
I am still expecting the letter from them as they indicate on their website.
I guess its only a lill bleep

will let you know what the letter says.

Congrats to Krb

Well, I didn't have to pay any extra fee either.
Also, when DFA returned the documents, they sent a white envelope which was PP express but postage paid, so I simply put my original PP in it and sent it back to them.
One of the problem with that though is, Anpost don't give you a tracking no. and so there is no way to know that DFA have got your original PP, and please don't expect DFA to be prompt to immediately update the status of your application as soon as they receive the PP.
I called them the next day, which is when I got the smart-mule on phone, and it was only after that, that the status of my application was changed to registered.

Anyway, once I sent my PP, DFA processed my application fairly quickly and I got PP in 4 days.

regards,
krb
