The following forms of evidence are not acceptable as evidence of comprehensive sickness insurance:-
•
The European Health Insurance Card (EHIC). The EHIC is the replacement for the E111 for persons temporarily resident within the UK and is only valid for limited purposes.
•
Cash back health schemes such as dental/optical/prescription charges.
•
Reliance on the UK’s National Health Service (NHS) does not constitute comprehensive sickness insurance for the purposes of the Regulations, including for students.
6.
If EEA students and self-sufficient persons cannot provide evidence of comprehensive sickness insurance, they will not have been living in the UK in accordance with the Regulations and therefore cannot be considered as a “qualified personâ€
