Hi all,
Fist of all thanks to everyone who has helped me (directly or indirectly) in applying for the extension. Today i got my extension for 4 years.
Applied on 1/06/06
CC charged 2/06/06
Ack letter 5/06/06
Passports recd 14/06/06
Docs sent
Application form
passports
2 photos (dont forget to print your name )
covering letter
job offer letter (4 months in job when applied for extension)
company's reference letter
4 months salary slips
P60
P45 from previous job (worked only for 3 months)
bank statements (5 months)
water bills
light bills
pre paid envelope (they used it)
Hope someone benefits from my post.
All the best to everyone applying for extension and Thanks to all who has helped me ( i had exchanged messages with Panteniea- Thanks mate) and everyone else.

Congratulations on your extension mate.
I too got my extension and all the documents with our passports were returned today with an extension for 5 years till 9 June 2011.

maybe because the total time spent in the uk is less than the duration of the 1st visa issued and it saves him the trouble of applying for an extension if the visa runs out before the total 5ys required for ILR are up

Congratulations and thank you very much for the post. It is indeed helpful for me as I am switching from Student dependent to HSMP holder. Going back home to get my EC...Can you suggest any more documents than listed above?
Also, I am not very clear for how long they will issue us a visa...any ideas?

Pabhi,
If you are going to apply for EC from India, it takes about 5-10 working days to get back your passport - provided you sumbit all the relevant supporting documentation and make it a straight-forward case for ECO.
