Work Permit Very Urgent Information Please

Post by prashar » Sat Jun 17, 2006 2:37 pm

Dear Friends,
I have been selected by a UK software company. I applied it through the advertisement in www.jobsearch.co.uk. Only 4 persons applied for that job out of which 1 is UK citizen and 3 are overseas( I am one of them) The post was for recent pass out computer graduate. The company will be filling my work permit application very soon. I am very tensed about the outcome. I have done my Bachelors of Technology with specialisation in Computer Science from India and have 1 month of work experience. Advertisement was also recent graduates without much work experience. Please let me know about the possibility of me getting a work permit. I have excellent academic record ( 74%) and have couple of Microsoft Certifications like MCP and MCDBA and I am 23 yr old. Please do let me know. Your reply will be highly appreciated. :?

The big question in this situation is why didn't they give the job to the UK citizen?

I think WoodieG its because "prasher"is the man they want.

It is however a pitty that more UK citizen's did not apply. Of the other 2 canidates are any of them from the EU states eg: France Germany?

I wouldn't worry too much. If Work Permits UK are satisfied that the required job advertisement/interview procedures have been fulfilled, they are normally quite happy to issue a Work Permit.
However, as always, you can never be sure until you really get one :)
On the other hand, if you are refused, it's not the end of the story, as your employer is allowed to appeal. Even twice, if I'm not mistaken.

Also important that your prospective company must prove that they have been advertising the job on the mass media at reasonable amount of time to allow UK/EU citizen to apply. Given that the above condition have been satisfied, your prospective company still need to prove that you are the best amount all other candidates that have been invited for the interview.

Another important factor is that whether this is a well known multi national companies Because normally, multinational companies could easily apply for work permit. It will rule out the possibilities that the job offered are based on nepotism. I think you see the reason for this.

If all of this conditions have been satisfied then your chance of getting work permit is very high (if not 100%).

Your prospective company could appeal if their application get rejected and even might go to court to sue for damage/loss of not hiring you.

Dear Prashar

I will say go for it, you have nothing to loose. In fact the process is not by you but by your employers.

If the job is a higly skills job, your chance is quite high.
