Bank Balance

Post by dhavaluk » Sat Jun 10, 2006 7:59 pm

Dear Friends,

I am going to apply for my extension next week; I had some queries before that, which I would like some of you to answer.

My VISA Expires on 26th July, I came in UK on 16th September, and got work on 10th October. None to mention that it was not in my field, but I am economically active since that day and working with the same company. I have applied to a number of positions in my own specialised field, but haven't succeeded yet.

Now my questions are;

1. Do we need to show some savings in bank? as the condition of HSMP is to remain 'economically active', which I am since the first month of arrival in this country, but I don't have much savings (hardly 300-400 GBP), do you think it will be a problem for me to get 4 years extension?

2. Has anybody had the same case of working for a long time, but not in his/her own field and have got 4 years extension?

I am earning enough (nearly £ 1200 pm net) and all of that is NIable, what do you people think?

Would be highly obliged to receive your expert replies.

Paying by postal order

Post by busa » Wed Jun 14, 2006 2:07 pm

For paying by postal order, the maximum amount of postal order is 250 GBP. Which mean for paying the extension fees of 335 GBP, we have to prepare two postal orders. Right ?

Yes,You are absolutely right. you have to purchase two nos. postal order for amount £250 and £85 equivalent to the extension fee of £335. Beware you also have to pay almost £17 as tax on these postal orders. Goodluck with your extension process.

Hi all.
I applied for an extension to my leave on the HSMP using FLRIED.
the application was sent off on 24 May 06.
I found out a decision was made on 09 June 2006.
Later I was told that passports have been sent off for the permit endorsements.
So I am presuming that my application was approved.
But I still do not have my passports back.
I had enclosed a prepaid Special Delivery envelope with the application. Now the chap tells me it was all sent yesterday... but track and trace on royal mail shows no sign of it...
am a bit panicky... any advice? has any1 else faced a similar problem?

Thanks Mughall. I had written to WP department. They confirmed that I would need to send two postal order. I had also asked them if I could pay using VISA debit card. The reply was 'Yes'.

Contractor covering letter for HSMP Extension

Post by busa » Wed Jun 14, 2006 4:58 pm

I have worked in two contract positions and now in permanent positions.

Do we have to mention the employment history :?:

Since I was using umbrella company for invoicing, I was their employee. How do I mention this in the covering letter :?: Do I have to say I was contracting :?:  Or do I just say I was employed with the umbrella company :?:

Send payslips and tax forms. They really aren't interested in your employers.

Extension approval taking a long time

Post by antona » Fri Jun 16, 2006 11:21 pm

Hi,
My attorney said he applied for the HSMP extension on the 31st of May. After 2 weeks I call up, and get the reply that the acknowledgement letter came in only on 14/06. So I might have to wait another couple of weeks. Is anyone aware of any delays this month. Am getting a bit worried about this already (although all docs seems OK)

Change of FLR(IED) form and address

Post by busa » Tue Jun 20, 2006 1:40 pm

Today I visited the site for checking the FLR(IED) form. I noticed that from 22nd June the FLR(IED) form has changed.

http://www.workingintheuk.gov.uk/workin ... forms.html

Also the address for sending the application has changed to
Work Permits (UK) - FLR(IED)
PO Box 493
Durham
DH99 1WT

Can anyone planning to apply soon (after 22nd June) confirm?

Extension process

Post by antona » Wed Jun 21, 2006 9:35 am

Friends,
For HSMP extension, does the passport get stamped at the same office where the decision is made or do they take a decision and then send the passport for endorsing to another office. How many days in average would be there between decision making and passports arriving ?

Thanks,

Hi antona
Seems they have a few buildings at sheffield where passports and FLRIED applications go for a decision re extension.
It may take a few days for residence permits to be endorsed on passports.
My decision was made on 9th June 06.
Passports endorsed on 12 th June 06
Recd everything back on 15 June 06 (even though I sent a prepaid special delivery envelope)

Hi,
Thanks Adipsych. I got a bit confused yesterday, when I called them . They said that a decision was made yesterday and documents have been dispatched the same day ie, yesterday. Did not know whether that is a good thing or not ! I guess, got to wait a bit more to know

Thanks,

Dear Antona,

can you tell me which number you used to speak to them? as i am constantly trying to call them on the number given at the end of the form for the surname alphabets, but its constantly busy, just to check whther the number is working or not, i tried 11.00 pm last night and 6.30 am this morning as well, but even at those times number was busy, so i wonder whether 01142743301 (Surname T - Z) is the correct one.

Extension

Post by antona » Thu Jun 22, 2006 11:45 am

All,
Thanks to the forum members and moderators for all your valuable input. My attorney has told me that he has received the passports back from the HO yesterday, which is 22 days after posting it. I understand that a 4 yr. extension has been granted.
I had applied 3 days before expiry of my visa. Why ? Bcoz am a lazy bone ( strongly advise to apply atleast a month before expiry of visa)
Would advise all HSMP extension applicants to send in the following
1) maximum number of payslips in the past year
2) P60
3) Last 3 months bank statements
4) 2 photographs with name written on back
5) Tenancy (dunno if this is needed)
6) Employment contract
+ of course your passports

These were the docs I send to my attorney. AM NOT SAYING THEY ARE ALL MANDATORY. But send them in if possible.

I tried the number 0114 207 4074. Stay in the Q than redialling, I guess you will land up in the end of the Q all the time. I got through within 5 minutes

Thanks Adipsych for your advise

Your reference number

Post by busa » Mon Jun 26, 2006 10:05 am

In the payment slip, there is filed "Your reference number". Should I enter my HSMP reference number in this field.
