maintenance funds as fixed deposit

hi, all..
can i use fixed deposit in indian bank for maintenance funds to apply for tier1 general in u.k?
i have a joint fixed deposit with my mother in india.. so can i use that fixed deposit as maintenance fund for tier1 general..

Yes, you surely can.

I had showed FD (jointly held with my wife) for manitenance funds for my tier 1 visa in India. Just be sure to submit the original FD certificate with a letter from the bank on their official letterhead saying that the FD is encashable / redeemable at any time on request by the holder.
