They asked for my original passport

Dear all

I have applied for naturalization based on 5 years residency (actually I had more than six on my passport). They turned my application down twice because of birth cert issues. Later on they sent an affidavit form to be filled with solicitor which I did. However, the same letter they asked for my original passport. They said they won’t accept photocopy.

I have already sent them the documents including my passport three weeks ago. They have not contacted me yet again.

My question is:
Has anybody been asked to furbish their original passport at primary stages?
Do they normally accept affidavit for birth cert with no probs ?
