Can I only show taxable income under Tier 1(General)?

Post by karani » Mon Mar 21, 2011 8:11 pm

Hi

Can I check whether if anyone knows if it's only taxable income that can be claimed as earnings under Teir 1(General)?

I can't find anything to this effect on guidelines but a few lawyers were in this opinion. Can anyone advice please?

Non Taxable income can also be considered provided the same is mentioned in the payslip. However, any sort of reimbursement does not count towards earning.

Thanks. My thoughts exactly! I was very sure of this but some of the legal firms advised me differently.

Would appreciate if a senior member can also confirm this?

Hi,

LTA - leave travel allowance is a taxable component. But in my pay slip it is mentioned that 'LTA reimbursement', is this still fine to be considered for claiming points? Please advise.

thanks,
Vinoth

Get a letter from employer stating that LTA is part of your compensation and paid separately for taxation purpose.
