Hi all,
I get paid a base salary, just under 27 000. I also get paid an accomodation allowance. With the accomodation allowance I get over 27 000 and therefore qualify for the past earnings points. Both my base salary and accomodation are listed on my pay slips. I DO pay tax on my base salary, I DO NOT pay tax on my accomodation allowance.
Can I claim my accomodation allowance as part of my gross income?
A few people have told me you can only claim what you get taxed on.
The guidance documentation states that:
"We will not be able to consider any allowances paid to you that are not declared on your pay slips."
So, I would assume that I can claim my accomodation allowance.
This is important for me as I will not qualify unless I can count my allowance.
By the way, I'm applying in the under 28 category, I've been working in the UK on a working holiday visa.
Cheers all
Pete
