how many days can you stay out in a year?

Post by ambareen » Thu Mar 24, 2011 12:52 pm

Hi,

I am currently on a valid Tier 1 General migrant visa. I am due my first extension in Oct 2011.
I have been on vacation this year from 4th Feb to 1st march...and will be travelling again from 22ndApr to 2nd May.

I wanted to know how may days are we allowed to be out of UK in a year? Im aware there is some rule which says if you stay out for more than N number of days you loose your chance to attain indefinite leave in 5 years. Does anyone know what this N is??
Can you please point me to the secion in the immigration law which states this?

Thanks a bunch! Appreciate all the help i can get here.

Regards,
Ambz

90 days in a row
180 days in total.

if you planning for ILR SET(O) 5 year route.

Hey!

that is a PROMPT response!
brilliant..thank you!

So that would be 180 days in a year and not over 5 years right?

Also can you tell me where to find this info on the home office website? What section number in the immigration law did u learn this from?

Thank you very much!!
You're a star :)

Cheers,
