Surrender certiificate

Post by smoothturbo » Mon Mar 28, 2011 7:22 pm

Hiya, not sure whether this has been discussed before, had a search but to no avail...

basically, I am a OCI since 2005 or so and has travelled to India on numerous occassions without any hassle from the immigration what so ever. Its only recently I've heard all those OCI's has to surrender the old passport and get surrender certificate which costs stupid amount of money! Is it necessary as I already have the OCI stamped?

Kind regards

Ali

You need a surrender certificate to get OCI. If you already have one, you do not need to do anything. OCI and your life-long visa stamp will be checked at the India Border and not your surrender certificate.
