student visa extension

Post by Bry » Sun Jul 02, 2006 11:38 pm

Hi

I have a friend who is about to renew his student visa. For the last month, he exceptionally worked slightly more than the 20h/wk (approx 22.5) allowed. Would this have any adverse effect on his extension application if he sends in his payslips?

Thanks everyone,
Bry

Not really my area but I would think this is grounds for them to refuse the application - not saying they will but they could.

Depends. If he did that during his vacation time then he should be ok but also i dont think from my experience home office would be that strict as many people on student regularly workss more that 25 hours a week and i havent heard anybody having a probelm in getting their visa renew

Do his payslips indicate directly how many hours he has worked? Or can it be indirectly infered how many hours he has worked? If it does, then it would a bit stupid to send in the payslips as it is direct evidence of breaking the rules and they will decline the application.

Why does he need to show his payslips? Can he not claim the money comes from some other source, like his parents?
In a few years time we'll look back on immigration control like we look back on American prohibition in the thirties - futile and counter-productive.
