Earlier there was nothing of that sort, but now with these rule changes they could ask you for anything.

there is specific amount , however as per law one should be able to support/maintain himself/dependents-
if there is regular source of income than it is no issue other wise as an abundant precaution 800 GBP for main applicant and 533 GBP per dependent should be sufficient apart from Home Office fees

No minimum balance required. FULL STOP.
Please don't give suggestions to HO. They might as well ask us to own a house (without a mortgage), a car, health insurance and so on ... :D :D :D

In my opinion there is no minimum balance specified anywhere, but refer to Section 5
YOUR HOME AND FINANCES
if Rent(mortgage)+ Dependant expenses(550 -as per visa requirements) are not more than your salary after tax, i think its fine. If Dependant working you can mention it to show good earnings in the family(but you have to show statements/payslips of spouse)
this is my math. but wait for Seniors' suggestions.

Please calm down, the time will come when we will have to worry about that.

Well, finally they started to accept that they take us as cash cows. Mr Nobel price winner might be good at number crunching but seriously lacks ethics!
Goodluck.
