You are lucky because you received your passports back. They are many stories there of important documents lost even when sent by recorded delivery let alone by 2nd class mail.

I would have travelled and paid for NCS services as losing your passports may prove to be a nightmare. In addition, processing time may take up to 6 months.

yeah, if these important documents(ie:passport) got lost in the post. i doubt they will take up the responsibility. they will probably blame the royal mail or send you a letter of apology for the most.
but getting these documents replaced can be a pain in the mule as well as costly. so finger down for UKBA

MN1 for my daughter

Post by palbirmingham » Mon Feb 21, 2011 1:17 pm

Dear All,
Can you please offer your advise:

-I arrived to the UK with my wife and 2 kids on 29 S.ep 2005.
-My daughter was born on 22 April 2009.
-The five of use received the ILR on 01/09/2010.
-My daughter received the ILR stamped on a special document as she did not have a passport.
-
NOW My daughter needs to travel urgently for medical reasons. I am completing the MN1 form . I would appreciate your advise on the fastest route to get the registration and the passport What documents should I include with the application since it is not clear in the guide and I keep ringing the HO but with no answer.

Many thanks

The fastest could be to get passport (or travel document) for your daughter from your old country (call consulate and ask) - if you need to travel to your old country then temporary passports are issued very quickly (at least in EU).
Registration lasts a few weeks (if not months) and then passport is also not printed on the spot.
Hope everything will be ok for you and your daughter.

Many thanks for your advise. I have already sent the application to my country but it requires me to be there as my country is occupied....

I would appreciate if you advise what documents i should send with the MN1 application. Is there a need to send my passport.

Many thanks,

MN1 for children born prior to ILR

Post by high_aimer » Mon Apr 18, 2011 9:02 pm

Has any body applied for MN1 recently?

Home Office received my kids application on 9th but they have not deducted the fee so far, no acknowledgement letter either.

We got SET(O) on 31st March and both of our sons were born before that. We have applied under section 1(3).

Any idea what could be going on? A rush of application just before 6th Apr fee raise may be?

Any thoughts or experiences?

waiting times

Post by alexo13d » Wed Apr 20, 2011 3:59 pm

Hi All, same here, - i've applied on 8th of April 2011 for my daughters BC using MN1 3(1), (she was borne in jan 2004, i've got my ILR on 30th of March 2010)... Stupidly though, i've not gone for NCS service (was totally going to do it, but then at the very last minute it slipped out somehow) .
So, it's now been almost two weeks, well twelve days to be precise, but i'm yet to see any indication of things moving forward. No payment has left my account yet, nor have i got the acknowledgement letter from HO... Should I be worried by delay and start chasing them, although I still haven’t got the acknowledgement?
Somebody please share your experiences on latest waiting times for mn1.
Any response will much appreciated…
Regards

I am also in the same boat. Have you included your kids name in the SET(O) form or are your kids going directly to MN1 without PR.

Finally the payment has left my account yesterday, but no acknowledgement letter yet.

Tried calling them and an automated voice advised me that they have a backlog of application due to a lot of people applying just before the fee rise on 6th of April.

@helpneeded2011. I didn't include my sons in my ILR application and have applied for their Citizenship directly under section 1(3).

Thanks high_aimer for your reply. Did you submit your sons MN1 form via NCS or postal. I am planning to submit it via NCS so that they will return my passport immediately. Any ideas?

still no acknowledgement letter! ...but, i've just been going through my statement and it looks like 500 of great British pounds have finally left my account. Let’s see what'll happen next (and more importantly, how soon - it'd been almost a month now).

Or both parents should have ILR?
Please reply it.
Thanks.
You can and in the form your wife will have to sign that she agrees with you application for your child. I also got my ILR on 10 year and have applied for my son. Will let you know the outcome.

What supporting documents did you submit with the application (photocopy or original)?

Thanks

I posted my son application for brtitish citizenship on MN1 form under section 1(3)

Type: Postal
Date Posted : 05/04/2011
Date recieved by HO: 06/04/2011
Date Payment deducted on Credit card: 15/04/2011
Acknowledgement Letter Rec'd: 21/04/2011 ( dated 15/04/2011)
Date of approval: Awaitting

Documents attached
1-Son Birth certificate
2-Son Passport
3-Father passport with ILR

My son was born in the UK before i recieved ILR on long residency basis. So Section 1(3) of British Nationality Act 1981 applies.

Called home office last week, i have been told that it has not been allocated to case worker yet, it may take between 3 to 6 month BUT person on the phone advised to ring back after 10 working days and there should be some update.

I personally beleive it will take about 3 months for them to process it, they have loads of application just before the fees changed and number of people working in Nationality Directorate are few to handle such bulk of applications. DONT FORGET, its a matter of giving nationality of one's country...these things take time for various checks and considerations.
I think we all should be Patient and just wait for a minimum 3 months.

Salam Irfan,

If you have ILR already and your son was born in UK you will need to regieter him as a british citizen by using MN1 form.

You will need the following documents with this application

1- Your son Full Birth certificate
2- Your passport (with ILR stamp on it)
3- Your marriage certificate (Only if your son is born before 1st July 2006)

If your son is born after 1 july 2006 then u dont have to give your marraige certificate.

Cost of MN1 Form in £540.

So as long as one of the parent either mother or father have ILR and child is born in UK you can always get british citizensip for your child.

If your son is born after you got ILR, then he is british by birth , he dosent need any registeration, you can simply apply for his passport by getting a passport form post office and attach the required documents.

I hope it clarifies your question.

This is the link for MN1 Form
http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/sitec ... rm_mn1.pdf

Good luck.. Any more questions ask me!
