Applying as a sponsor with an overdraft

Post by stickman » Thu Apr 14, 2011 9:44 pm

Hi

I am very concerned reading some past posts regarding having a bank overdraft and the impact of this upon a UK Fiance Visa application

I have an authorized overdraft of £1650 which I use pretty much each month over the past 6 months

I have a full time job and regular income of nearly 2000 however due to outgoings (inc flights abroad etc) it's difficult not to use this overdraft facility!

I still have more that enough outstanding to cover the required 105 per week - but am very worried as I see the ECO really doesnt like overdrafts!!

Can anybody ease my worries here?

Thanks

Which country are you applying from? I had an overdraft similar to yours - I did pay it off just before applying but I also explained in my sponsor letter that it was an authorised overdraft i had used for years. I also submitted a list of essential outgoings with amounts for each to show that I had enough left over. I also had quite a big loan but it was fine - presumably as I showed I still had enough after paying this each month.
Good luck!

Hey, I'm in a similar situation with my partner's account.

He has five figure sums coming in and also going out as expenses (business related), and on average is left with about 3000 pounds profit each month. But he is still overdrawn half the time!
We also only have about 3000 pounds in savings.

Any more enlightenment on this issue would be great!

I think it should be fine as long as it's an authorised overdraft and he submits a budget to show that he has enough left over after rent, council tax etc to support you.

Hi all,

I'm in the same position as the poster and would like to know if the poster has indeed submitted an application showing his use of overdraft and if that has compromised the application in any way? In other words, please update me on this situation.

You can see my post here:

Many thanks
