Rights of Father

Post by The Husband » Sun Apr 24, 2011 12:55 am

Hello all.

A non EU man married a British woman while she was in his country, they were married for a few years, then she got pregnant left him and went back to the UK.

She had the baby and put his name on the birth certificate.

she does not work and is on benefits and won't help him to come to the UK.

Is their anyway that he could go to the UK to see his child?

How do you know she put his name on the birth certificate? Can you confirm this

According to current law, in this situation only the mother has parental responsibility for the child.

The wife is from England.

She told him she put his name on the birth certificate.

But looking at the link posted, does not look like he has much options.

why do you say that? If he is able to obtain contact with his child then he can apply for entry clearance as a person exercising rights of access to a child resident in the United Kingdom as set out in the links.
