Your solicitor is paid to represent you. So he should be enough. However it is best that the sponsor can be present in case they ask some personal questions which only the applicant and sponsor knows the answer,

Just been checking the Uk visa website for application processing times and I was surprised to see that they only made 42 decisions on settlement visas applied from mirpur office in march against well over 200 decisions made in feburary (don't remember the exact now but it was over 200), the same goes for visa decision made from all centres in Pakistan. The difference between all previous 6 months and feburary is atleast 3-4 times.
I have been following the visa processing guide from last 6 months and it was always over 200 decisions from each centre.

It's highly unlikely that they are making less decisions because of receiving less applications as they are still taking well over 3 months. I wonder what could be the reason for making such few decisions.
All settlements cases are usually dealt by a team of ECO based on the dates they that are lodged in any of the VAC in Pakistan. It is not a case that an ECO is allocated to each of teh VAC and the officers deals only with application lodged at his VAC. There is usually a difference in the amount of applications lodged at each VAC. Islamabad is the busiest in Pakistan.

you need to write a letter saying due to medical grounds you would not be able to attend hearing. To back this attached some medical certificate from doctor. It is better to explain why you are not attending.

Salaam,

Shoib82 - Very good point, in February, if I remember correctly, Islamabad VAC had over 400 decisions made against just 92 in March  . But interestingly the figures for March were only updated around 20th of April, do they normally get updated around this sort of date? I was under the impression due to new English Test rule there was massive demand of applicants trying to avoid that requirement hence ECO (What ever that stands for) had more thanever applicatins to deal with, resulting long delays, perhaps nock on affect.

Mind you their Customer Service Standard target is to process 95% of applications within 12 weeks however for Mirpur in March they massively missed that target, and manacged to process just 78% within the timeframe.* Even these figures are shown in WORKING DAYS rather than standard 12 weeks, as per their set standard.

interesting obsrvation, I have read on this forum by applicants from India that some of them were contacted by UKBA.

Has anyone themselves or know someone who has been personally contacted by the UKBA directly through telephone? Was there such section on the application form where sponsor's and applicants contact details are requested (I can't remember as my solicitor did my paperwork)?

What if you miss the telephone call?

Both the applicant's and sponsor's details are requested. I wouldn't worry too much about the phone calls. If they can't get a hold of you the first time, they might try again or try some other means of contact.

Post by saminkhan » Mon Apr 25, 2011 12:18 pm

Salam guys

My brother in law is planning to apply spouse visa from Lahore but this English test saga doesnt make any sense. And the guidance avaialble is so confusing. Can somome guide in terms of which test to go for and where to book the test. His english is great so he would prefer not to go for the standard IELTS and only attemp the test just to fulfil the requirements.

The next step is wait....now ball is BHC court,if they withdraw you would get a call letter,if not matter moved to court. You can write an email and asked confirmation that they have received yours paper works..If you send yours appeal paper through a register courier then confirmation is simply a formality.

You will not get a acknowledge letter from ECO.

Do you ask for paper appeal or oral?

If you've applied for a paper hearing, you wont get a notification of a hearing date as it will be heard in your absence. You will be informed of outcome of hearing by letter.

The average wait for an hearing is a minimum 6 months

Would this be OK?

And also to the photocopies of my passport need to be attested?
There is no need for you to submit copies of your recent visit to Pakistan if you don't wish to do so, however there is no harm in doing so if you wish. It will make no difference. You do not need to attest any pages of your passport for this purposes

Hi all,

I am a PhD student in UK. My wife and son recently submitted their visa applications (Dependent of Tier 4 Student).

Their timeline is the following:

Image Scanning Completed: 11/04
Application forwarded to Islamabad OC: 13/04
Application forwarded to the Embassy for processing: 13/04
Visa Application is under process at British High Commission: 27/04

Any idea how long will it take, from now, before they receive their passports?

Dear All, Asalaamu Alaykum.

I have been reading this forum for a few months now so please don't be alarmed if I seem to know you lot much better than you do me at this point! But after reading some of the issues and personal trials some of you are going through I wanted to tell you not to give up hope. A brief look at my stats might be of some solace to some of you; well that's the hope anyway?!

Met my gorgeous husband during his visit to England in 2008. We spent lots of time together and had plenty of evidence of this (photo's and recipts etc). Kept in touch regularly when he returned via internet and phone which was also all evident.

Then went over to get married in April 2009 with all my paperwork. Unfortunately 3 days after my wedding day I became inexplicably and seriously sick. This lead to me having to take extended leave from work and could not apply for our visa as my job became questionable. After learning how to walk again I returned to England, but because there was still lasting effects of this freak illness, I was bullied out of my job, so had to start work at a friends shop last minute as we then had a date (August 09) to submit our papers and during the hight of the recession any other work was impossible to find.

The local company in Pakistan that completed our form for us completely screwed up! the form itself was a joke! My case was refused as they did not believe we were a legitimate couple or that my job was real as they contacted my work place and some guy who had only started the day before they called decided to act as store manager and did not confirm my employment.

But my employer went back on his word and refused to pay me our agreed wage and on top of this, the illness came back. This time it landed me under investigation as it incapacitated me almost completely. At this point I decided to let it all go as I was in no shape or form to appeal. As soon as I was discharged from hospital I left to spend time with my husband- a good 5 months. I was sick of it all. However, against all odds and intentions, I became pregnant! Once I got back to England I was given a diagnosis for the sickness, I was diagnosed with M.S (Multiple Sclerosis). So here I was, Jobless, Husband-less, with a neurological disease and pregnant.

The pregnancy was very high risk and I suffered many complications. After trying to get help from as many people as I could, I got nowhere, nobody was willing to hire me or help me. So I was determined to make the best of the situation I found myself in. My father was then diagnosed with cancer and I simply couldn't cope with my pregnancy and illness alone, plus he was supporting my financially so I never once touched public funds since being married. I tried so hard to find the best value legal help but ended up with the worst immigration "specialists" which I would seriously advise anybody to avoid!! I ran around in the snow heavily pregnant to get all that I could together and they did nothing! Their no visa no fee was bull, their promise of "you just pay us and we do the rest" was the biggest lie!! And once the form was filled by them, i found 30 mistakes in it. I had to get them to redo the whole 9 yards 3 times and this was right around my due date! The date I sent him my complete file I went in to labour, which almost took my babies life.

We submitted our MASSIVE case file on the 10th Feb 2011, It was under process by the 23rd Feb and our status changed to pick the case up 27th April 2011. He picked his passport up today with a visa issued inside, after 2 years of struggling with this system.

This forum is a little ray of sunshine for those of us with that constant grey cloud above our head. The amount of support and advice available here is second only to payer. DON'T give up you guy's, you are all genuine loving people who will get there eventually. Keep faith in Allah and your hands & knees firmly pressed on that prayer mat.

If anybody needs to ask me anything, please feel free- the slightest bit of advice made all the difference to me and I'd like to do the same for anybody who may think me worthy at all. My Du'ah's are with you... x

Sallam All,

Hope all well.

My wife applied for UK settlement VISA on 18th March 2011. On 31st March, I received a phone call from British High Commision Islamabad asking: who have I applied VISA for, what is their name, D.O.B, my address in the UK, etc.

Can you please add the below info to the spreadsheet/list:

Application submitted on 18th March 2011 in Islamabad.
Application forwarded to Islamabad OC on 18/03/2011
