FD as proof of maintenance fund when FD is on joint name

Post by tuxgeeg » Thu Apr 28, 2011 9:34 am

Hi all,
I want to show fixed deposit as proof of maintenance fund for my wife's dependent visa. I am currently in Tier 1 General. However, the fixed deposit is jointly in my name and my father's name.
Is it possible? If yes, what kind of letter I would need from the bank.

Any input will be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

If you can show any other proof for maintenance such as current account or savings account statement will be risk free

However, you can show the fixed deposit as maintenance funds but you need to prove with a
(1) Bank letter confirming that you can withdraw the funds at any time
(2) No objection letter from your father to use the funds for maintenance

Thanks teddy.
Even I am really worried about using this FD but its either this or waiting for 2 more months for application.
If its not too much to ask, what would be your opinion?

If you can afford to wait, I could recommend you to wait and apply with your current account statement

Thanks. That sounds reasonable.
