Bank statements

Post by tier-1 » Tue May 17, 2011 10:49 am

Hello Friends,

Can you please tell weather a stamped bank statement is acceptable? Have they mentioned it anywhere?

Thanks for your help.

Also sorry for asking any stupid question. My application just got refused.

Thanks

Depends on the bank statement in question. If it's a fake one, then no, it's not acceptable, if it's printed by the bank on the bank's stationery, then yes, if it's printed by you from the internet, then no and so on. You really need to give more detail - a stamp does not automatically get you a visa. It would depend what that stamp is placed on.

As an existing Tier 1 (General) migrant, you should be aware of where to look for such information - the relevant policy guidance!

Yes it is acceptable cuz HKBA approved many applications with such stamped bank statements.

Just to be clear..I am summarizing my understanding which I had read in this forum.

Following not acceptable.

1. You log into the banking account and take a print out of the statement.
2. Your local branch provides a printout on the bank stationary. (It may be accepted if it is SIGNED AND SEALED by the authority).

Following are accepted.

3. Your monthly statements that you receive.
4. Duplicate statements that you request via phone/internet and delivered to your house address/to your local branch.

3 and 4 are almost similar. But 1/2 has vast difference like logo/bank complete address/phone numbers/Bar code and these all would come only with 3 and 4.

Hope it is clear.. Moderators are welcome to rephrase if my statement is wrong

Online bank statements are equally accepted and generally the same as original bank statements..they only have one line at the bottom that "It is an electronically generated statement... blah blah" They dont have any issues with logo etc etc. Whenever you take a printout just verify whether it contains all the information required as per policy guidance..Take a colour printout and ask your bank to put an official stamp on it. Make sure stamp is clearly visible on every page. Thats it...you're done. Signature not required but if you can get it then its fine.

As per Policy Guidance :-

Personal bank or building society statements covering the 3-month period immediately before the application

The personal bank or building society statements should clearly show:

your name;
the account number;
the date of the statement;
the financial institution's name and logo;
transactions covering the three-month period;
that there is enough funds present in the account; and
that there has been enough money present in the account for the past three months.

If you wish to send electronic bank statements from an online account these must contain all of the details listed above. In addition, you will need to send a supporting letter from your bank, on headed paper, confirming that the statements are genuine. Alternatively, electronic bank statements with the official stamp of the bank that issued the statements will be accepted. The stamp must appear on every page of the statement.

We will not accept statements which simply show the balance in the account on a particular day as these documents do not show that you hold enough funds for the full period required.
