Passport expriring, how to get visa on new Passport?

Hi,
My Passport is expiring in June 2011 whereas my tier 1 general will expire in Jan 2013.

I am not intending to travel soon, but you never know, as your family may need you at any time.

My questions are, after renewing the passport,

1- how do I get the visa on new passport?

2- Is there any link which expains the step by step procedure?

3- Do I need the visa in new passport or can I travel with new passport but visa on old passport (keeping both togethr). I know it sounds bit daft, but never ashamed of asking what I dont know.

4- If I do need the visa on new passport, do I need to show funds for my maintenance? (my wife is dependent on me, and I hope it is nothing to do with her).

5- Any other info which I need to know?

Any relevant input will be highly appreciated.

That does say that I do not have to move it on new passport. I can still travel with both old and new passport to show the visa.

Is that really practical. would love to hear comments from others.

Has somebody really travelled like that so far?

YES.

You can travel by carryying both old and new passports. If you want to get the visa ticket in your new passport, you have to pay. So, if you wish you can pay otherwise just carry two passports, no trouble either way..

I am wondering, why should I pay. I can carry both passports till my extension comes and at that stage, it will be renewed on new passport.

Is there any disadvantage of not moving it to new passport (other than carrying two passports)?
