Tier 1 - PSW Dependent

Post by ram159 » Fri May 27, 2011 5:04 pm

Hi All,

I am working in UK in Tier 2 visa. My wife is in Tier 1 PSW Visa in UK since two months and searching for a job. I would like to switch my visa to dependent of my wife Tier 1.
For switching my visa, do I have to go to home country to apply for a tier 1 dependent visa?
If I want to apply from my home country, how much should I show the maintenance fund for Tier 1 dependent visa? Is it £1600 or £2800+£1600=£4400?
Can I show the maintenance fund in UK bank account which is a joint account (my self and my wife)

To prove English Language skills, Can I show my degree certificate which was taught in English? Is this enough?

Can I continue to work in Tier 1 dependent visa ?

Can you please advise me for the above queries?

Thanks in advance.

1. I believe you will have to go to your home country and do that.

2. If your wife is in the UK for less than 12 months, then you require 1600 for you, if she is in thek UK for more than 12 months then 533 required for you. Although Home Office says that you do not require 800/2800 for the main applicant when they applied PSW, people suggest you should maintain that as well.

3. You can continue to work.

4. You can use joint account

4. You do not require english language skills on dependent visa

Thanks terriblescream for your valuable information.

I have one more doubt.

Can Tier 1 PSW main applicant and dependent work in contract jobs?

Can Tier 1 PSW main applicant open a limited company?

Thanks.

1. There is no restriction to the kind of employment you can undertake on PSW, you cannot work as DR/DENTIST in training only as mentioned on BRP Card/Visa Vignette

2. Yes you can open a company, but bare in mind after expiration of your PSW what is your permission of UK gonna be ? All that you have invested ? unless you switch into other category you will have to leave the UK
