IELTS or KOL or Bachelors Degree for FLR(M) English language

Post by d_seng » Thu Jun 02, 2011 11:42 am

Hello everyone,

My wife obtained ILR last week. I am a Tier-1 visa holder and will be applying shortly as Spouse of someone present and settled in the UK using FLR(M), i.e. applying from within the UK.

I am confused about which document to present for English language requirements. I have the following:
  • IELTS: Issued in Dec 2007, score 8.5 out of 9

KOL Test: I passed KOL test in April 2011, at the same time as my wife

Bachelor's degree from Delhi University, India: It is recognised by the points based calculator as UK equivalent and also awards me points for English Language as well, but I do not have a NARIC letter.
Can somebody please guide me as to which document I should present with my application?

Thanks in advance!

Dhruva

Thanks for your reply minty. But I rather be sure and send the correct one when applying (well actually I am applying in person). And I also would need to tick the correct boxes on the application form.

I have read that IELTS has an expiry date of two years?

Strangely enough, on the UKBA page http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/sitec ... e-partners, the list of new approved english language tests applicable for applications after 17th July 2011 shows that IELTS is valid only for two years: http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/sitec ... -tests.pdf,
while the list for previous tests valid for applications up to 17th July 2011 does not show any expiry date: http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/sitec ... -tests.pdf

So can I assume that IELTS will be good enough?
