ILR success (Tier1 to ILR)

Hi,

Just to share my experience on ILR experience. Thanks for all the information given on this forum. It has helped a lot.

Condition:
- Myself on Tier1 (General) with BRP (Biometric Residence Permit)
- My wife on Dependent visa with BRP.

Applied through PEO services at Croydon. Appointment was at 1:30pm.
Used form SET(0).

1) Entered PEO office on 12:45.
2) Airport style security check - 10 minutes
3) Wait in line for verification of documents - 30 mins.
4) Verification of documents - 10 mins
5) Payment of fees - 5 mins
6) Wait for caseworker to call at the window - 2.5 hours
7) Caseworker asked basic questions about application form, P60, employer letter etc.
8) Caseworker took 1 hour to go thru the documents
9) ILR approved
10) Wait for 30 minutes to get both the visa.
11) Out of PEO office - 5:30pm

Documents, i took:
My documents --> All the documents requested in SET(O), P60s, employee letters, 1year payslips, 1year bank stmts, all the letters received from UKBA.
My wife's documents --> Authorization letter from wife, cohabitation documents, payslips, address proof etc.

My experience... ILR is pretty straight forward process. Take all the documents you can, just in case they ask for it ...

One thing ... SET(O) ILR is a non-biometric visa. If you have BRP they would keep it after issuing ILR.

Yes, the caseworker asked for the current Employer Letter. But i had the offerletter since i joined very recently. Caseworker was OK with that.

For cohabitation as per the section 10A of SET(O), the requirements was to prove cohabitation from the time the last leave to remain was granted (up to a max 2 years).
My last Tier1(G) was granted in Dec-2010. Therefore, we took following documents for my wife to prove cohabitation:
- Salary slips (Jan-11 to May-11)
- Bank statements (Jan-11 to May-11)
- Council tax bills
- Employer Letter
- P60s
- Credit card statement.
The idea is to give as much confience to caseworker for co-habitation as possible. So, take all you can.

They asked for Employer Letter although i had given my latest offer letter from the employer.

Did they asked for all P60s ?
As per my understanding we (Tier 1 holders) only need to show last 12 months.

Although, for Tier1 (G) to ILR, the requirement is to only show the last 12 months finance details ... We took all the P60s we had (both for myself and my wife)... its good to give all the available P60 which gives confidence to caseworker.

i m confused about codes on practice as it mention in set (o) form
thats old work permit i have
did they ask u anything about codes of practice letter or anything

Sorry, but my case was Tier1 (G) to ILR and it did-not have any stuff on codes on practice.

Not sure whether thats related to work permit.
