Tier-1 extension

Post by deneme » Sat Jun 04, 2011 1:51 pm

Hi,

My Tier-1 general visa expires on 21.01.2012 and after a 7 months stay in the UK I am back in my home country. My question is: if I do stay in my home country can I still apply for extension (planning to go to the UK 1-2 months before the expiration of my visa)?

Thanks in advance...

thanks, I remember in the previous (before April 2010) rules, there was a rule of staying in the UK for at least blah blah days, has it recenty changed? Where can I find Tier-1 extension rules?

thanks a lot.

Obviously I earn my wage in my home country. there was an uplifting coefficient for outside-UK earnings as a table but can't find in this new guide. is it changed?

thanks a lot really.

No uplifting in extension. so simply convert your overseas earnings into pounds

Even if I am present in my home country and earning here, it won't be uplifted??? :(

Processing time

Post by jillp76 » Sat Jun 04, 2011 5:03 pm

Hi I was in same situation and came back to the UK with plenty of time to renew. This was lucky as there are problems with processing time (unless you already have a biometrics card). Just keep this in mind! I'll let you know if they come back at me with anything (I spent 8 months in my home country)

If you applied before 06 Apr 2011, an uplift factor would be applied if you're claiming points for previous earnings made outside the country.

Can someone clarify what an uplift factor is? Sorry I didnt use anything like this in my application - just used my overseas wage - converted to pounds as per exchange rate at time of earnings

It was a ratio (e.g. 1 or 1.4 or 0.5 etc) used to adjust overseas earnings (depending on the country) so the earnings are in line with the UK equivalent. They'd multiply the overseas earnings by the uplift ratio/factor for the country in salary was earned in.
