How sooner can a Tier-1 General visa could be extended?

Hi Experts,

My tier-1 (General) visa is due on 20-April-2012.
Can I do an extension by this August? Are there any rules or minimum period before I should "only" apply?

The reason being a IT contract role was denied just because my Visa is < 1 year

Hi Avijendr,


Although it is advised that you send your application about 1 month before it expires, it is not a rule and you can send it earlier if you choose to. The only down side is that it might cut short your 5 years stay to get ILR if you send it too early, which may lead to another extension.
