what criteria to use when looking for a good solicitor?

Post by sialacii » Tue Jun 07, 2011 3:13 pm

Hi

I am due to apply for ILR long residency, I am planing to use a solicitor for this. and hopefully use the same solicitor when I apply for citizenship ( 1 year down the line ..).

there aren't many solicitors in the town where I live. the question is should i apply via a solicitor that is based 70 miles away from my town?
should i go for small or big firms?
what criteria should I use when looking for an immigration solicitor?

I am confused.... and don't want-to pickup a remote solicitor unless I have to...

please advice.

Why do want to use immigration lawyer/solicitor.

we have many experts in this forum providing free immigration service.

Is your case not straightforward.
I am sorry to ask this question

had a minor offense which i believe its spent now,i got fined for it £150 over 5 years ago ... I rather solicitor dealing with it. i lived here for past 10 years and already have established life style and have permanent job here, i dnt want to take any risk!

whats average fee that solicitor will charge ? what should i expect?
Home office only accepts postal application so i guess its cheaper than sending solicitor down to the home office inquiry office.
